Gone Fishing began in Klamath Falls in 1991 by raising tropical fish outdoors utilizing direct use geothermal water. During 20 years of tropical fish production more than 200 varieties of fish were cultured. In 2008, we transitioned to raising tilapia for human consumption and have been doing this continuously since. We began experimenting with aquaponics (growing plants in the water from the fish) in 2012 and this business segment shows great promise.

The Challenge

Raising warm water fish year round in the Klamath Basin!!! There were many technological hurdles to raising warm water fish at 4200 feet elevation during the frigid Klamath winters. These challenges led us on a quest to create the most efficient fish production system that we could. This system has been in continuous operation for many years now and has proven so effective that we are now exporting it around the world.

Our Solution

We are asking SCORI to help us bring this Aquaponics system that we have developed to a point that it can be sold on the open market.
